On Tuesday, January 8th, join North County’s Park 101 for a PopUp Shop & Playdate with tons of locals vendors! Purchase home décor from companies like Corkage Crafts and Lava Girl Designs or check out customizable jewelry by Keep Collective. With over 20 local vendors, as well as children’s activities to keep the kids busy, you’re sure to find lots you will love. The event is free, but you can grab your ticket through the website, as well as view a complete list of all vendors that will be in attendance. And don’t forget to enjoy some tasty food while you’re at Park 101, a great spot for salads, smoked meats, sandwiches and much more!


Real Housewives Trivia | January 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th

If you consider yourself a Real Housewives fanatic, you won’t want to miss Real Housewives Trivia at Miss B’s Coconut Club. Enjoy delicious Caribbean-inspired bites and sips while testing your knowledge of the popular BRAVO series each Wednesday in January, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If your team attends all four weeks and places at the end of the month, you can win a free dinner for the group. Taste + Tequila Old Town San Diego | January 10th

Who doesn’t love tequila, tacos and a good time? All can be had at the Taste + Tequila Old Town event, held on Thursday, January 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets include tastings of the area’s best Mexican cuisine and spirits and several restaurants in the heart of Old Town, along with live music and entertainment. Participating restaurants and bars include Casa Guadalajara, Tahona, Alamo Mexican Café and many more! Details about parking, along with tickets purchases, can be done through the event website.


Poway Winter Festival | January 11th and 12th

Experience the magic and charm of winter like never before at Poway’s Winter Festival, on Friday January 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday January 12th from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Held at the Poway Community Park, families can build a snowman, sled down the snow hill, roast marshmallows by the campfire, take a spin around the skate rink or visit the photo booth! Old favorite and new specialty food vendors will be on-site, so plan to come curious and hungry. There will be a free shuttle to the event from both the Poway City Hall parking lot – 13325 Civic Center Drive, and the Boys and Girls Club parking lot – 12988 Bowron Road.

8th Annual San Diego Brew Fest | January 12th

Beer lovers rejoice – San Diego Brew Fest returns to Liberty Station on Saturday, January 12th! The event, which features dozens of local and international craft beers, as well as San Diego’s post popular food trucks, will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Or upgrade for VIP and get an added hour with special beers that will be only poured from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Breweries in attendance include Amplified Ale Works, Green Flash, Alpine Beer Company, Latitude 33 Brewing Co, and Thorn Street Brewery, along with a ton other! Look forward to food trucks like Mastiff Sausage Company, Cousins Maine Lobster and The Groovy Greek – food is not included in the price of the ticket. DIY Kombucha Class | January 12th

Making kombucha at home is both healthier and more affordable than purchasing it at a store, and thanks to this DYI Kombucha workshop, you can learn to do just that. On Saturday, January 12th starting at 7:00 p.m., Edible Alchemy will educate and demonstrate all you need to know about making your own kombucha, and tickets start at only $13! This is one foodie event you won’t want to miss out on.


Cocktail Making Class at You & Yours Distilling Co | January 16th

If your New Year’s resolution is to learn something new, start with learning how to mix up drinks like the pros at You & Yours Distilling Co with an hour long, hands-on introductions to cocktail basics. Attendees will learn how to measure, shake, stir and pour drinks, and each attendee will have the opportunity to make and enjoy two cocktails, all while learning a brief history of the drinks being made. This class is taught by the staff at You & Yours, and tickets (which can be purchased here) include all tools and ingredients. You must be at least 21 years of age to sign up for this fun-filled and educational class, which takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.


Tide Pool Guided Tour | January 19th – 20th

Explore where the land meets the sea and learn about amazing tidepool habitats and their inhabitants! The optimal season for tide pooling is December through March, when minus tides reveal wider beaches and pools teem with life. Birch Aquarium hosts Tidepooling Adventures on Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th, where trained naturalists will show you how to tread lightly during your visit and help you discover the wonderful world of tide pools. This is a great event for kids and adults, and you never know what cool species you will find. Tickets can be pre-purchased on the website!


National Cheese Day | January 20th

National Cheese Lover’s Day, on January 20th, is the perfect day nosh on some of San Diego’s best ooey-gooey cheese dishes.

Here are our must-tries:

  • Queso Fundido with roasted poblano, Anaheim pepper, onion and mushroom from Del Sur Mexican Cantina, in South Park.
  • 4-Maggio pizza at Basic. A white pie topped with mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, gorgonzola and fresh basil.
  • Homemade Blue Fondue served with crispy kettle chips from The Tipsy Crow, a Gaslamp District fav spot.
  • Anything from Grater Grilled Cheese, especially the signature grilled goat cheese sandwich, with bacon, bell peppers, caramelized onions and smoked jalapeño
  • Queso Especial, triple chile cheese sauce with house made chorizo, at The Blind Burro.
  • Urban Solace’s Duckaroni – their famous mac and cheese with duck confit, blue cheese, garlic and bacon bread crumbs.
  • Goat Cheese Cheesecake, with poached fruit, whip and mint from The Smoking Goat.


San Diego Restaurant Week | January 20th – 27th

It’s back! San Diego Restaurant Week, which takes place between January 20th – 27th, is the perfect time to cross some local restaurants off your list. The eight days event features lunch and dinner specials at over 180 restaurants scattered across the city. Spots like Cloak and Petal, JRDN, The Prado at Balboa Park and Mister A’s, among many others, will have pre-fixe menus that showcase some of their tastiest dishes. Details and reservations for many can be made through the San Diego Restaurant Week website, so get your friends onboard and plan out where you will dine at the end of January.


Farmers Insurance Open | January 24th – 27th

The end of January each year marks the Farmers Insurance Open, held at the stunning Torrey Pines Golf Course. Watch some of your favorite pros tee off during the four-day tournament, which takes place January 24th through January 27th. You’ll also want to check out the Servpro Fan Village, with a merchandise tent, fan zone with premium food and drink, and much more.
