Anza-Borrego Desert Wildflowers | Spring

Join the thousands of annual visitors to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in the spring to enjoy the famous wildflowers in bloom. Weather conditions affect when the blooms will be best, but the second week of March is often considered the peak of the season. Cloak & Petal Fashion Industry Mixer | March 1st

Cloak & Petal, a trendy Little Italy restaurant and bar, is hosting a Fashion Industry Mixer on Friday, March 1st from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The place will be packed with a slew of industry professionals including models, modeling scouts, agents, designers, photographers, stylists, fashion influencers and hair/makeup artists, among other industry pros. If you’re looking to get into the fashion industry or have the desire to network with creatives who share the same craft, then this is a unique opportunity for you to begin! Admission is complimentary but you must RSVP, as space is limited.

 

Meze Hummus Competition | March 1st   

Are you hummus obsessed? If so, swing by Meze Greek Fusion in the Gaslamp District on March 1st, starting at 6:00 p.m., for a chance to vote on your favorite flavors. Taste the five competing hummus dishes and vote on your favorite–maybe your choice will be featured on Meze’s spring menu! Wine and Paella at the Beach | March 1st  

Local Ocean Beach paella chef, Noelia Murias, and Fianni Buonomo Vintners’ wines, will be coming together for this Wine and Paella Happy Hour at the Beach. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., enjoy $5 and $7 glasses of wine and paella with your friends and San Diegan neighbors. Plan to come early–the paella may sell out!

Carlsbad Flower Fields | March 1st

March 1st marks the first day of the season for the famous Carlsbad Flower Fields, which will be open until May 12th. Be the first to see this year’s ranunculus blooms from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on March 1st. Adult tickets are $18 and children’s tickets are $9, and can be purchased in advance on their website.

 

Finish Chelsea’s Run 5k | March 2nd

Honor late San Diegan, Chelsea King, by joining in the Finish Chelsea’s Run 5k in Balboa Park on March 2. Started in 2010 in remembrance of Chelsea King, the competitive 5k race and fun run and walk is also the primary fundraiser for the Chelsea’s Light Foundation Sunflower Scholarship fund, which provides scholarships for San Diego teens heading to college.

 

Spring Home/Garden Show | March 1st – 3rd

Hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the 34th Annual Spring Home/Garden Show is coming to San Diego March 1-3. Check out the exhibitions, meet home and gardening experts and try your hand at the succulent potting bar. More information and tickets on their website.

Busker Fest | March 2nd – 3rd

Celebrate unique talents at the Busker Fest, March 2 and 3, at Seaport Village. California’s only busker festival will include two days of family-friendly juggling, knife throwing and pogo stick tricks. Plus, come back from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. on March 2nd for the 18+ “Busker After Dark” event.

 

St. Patrick’s Day Half Marathon | March 3rd

Race through downtown El Cajon during the St. Patrick’s’ Day Half Marathon, 5K and Green Mile for kids and adults with special needs. Celebrate Fat Tuesday at The Smoking Gun’s All-You-Can-Eat Crawfish Boil, beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th. Back for it’s second year, this Gaslamp District hangout is celebrating in style with crawfish and all the fixin’s, along with your favorite Fat Tuesday Cocktails. The 13.1-mile course will race by Petco Park, the USS Midway, through Liberty Station and up through Mission Hills, before coasting through Balboa Park and back into downtown for an epic finish! Del Mar Mud Run | March 31st

Get filthy at the 9th Annual Del Mar Mud Run, held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. This muddy 5k course will be filled with obstacles and fun, and after the race is over, enjoy the signature Foam Fest showers, courtesy of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience!
