Del Mar Racing Season | Through August

Tourists and locals alike flock to Del Mar Racetrack, where the ocean meets the land! Throughout the month, this old time San Diego tradition stands strong as viewers place wages on their favorites. On Fridays, you can enjoy free concerts after the final race. Artists like Chase Rice, Angels & Airwaves and Steel Pulse will take the stage, and you can get in for free with the purchase of racetrack entrance. On Saturday, August 10th, the Food Truck Festival will be taking place at Del Mar, between Noon and 6:00 p.m., so bring your appetite for the tastiest food on wheels. Julian StarFest 2019 | Thursday, August 1st – Saturday, August 3rd

Come enjoy the largest three-day public star party in Southern California at the Julian StarFest, hosted by the San Diego Astronomy Association. Held under the dark skies of Menghini Winery, near the mountain resort of Julian, exhibits include major telescope and accessory vendors, food and beverage vendors, astronomy games and crafts for children and a raffle for donate astronomy equipment on Saturday. Stranger Things Trivia at PB Alehouse | Monday, August 5th

It’s time to showcase your Netflix binging skills and put them to the test with Stranger Things Trivia at Pacific Beach Alehouse. Taste of Encinitas | Tuesday, August 6th

Don’t miss the best event in downtown Encinitas – The Taste of Encinitas, on Tuesday, August 6th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Treat your taste buds to food and drink samples from 25 + restaurants while enjoying local wine and craft beer served at 20 sip stops hosted by shops and salons. PB Shore Club Human Foosball Tournament | Tuesday, August 6th and Wednesday, August 7th

Looking to liven up your midweek plans and support a great cause? Look no further than Pacific Beach Shore Club’s Human Foosball Tournament, taking place on August 6th and August 7th. This quirky tournament is back for its third year and a second day of fun has been added for San Diego’s first responders to participate. Oceanside International Film Festival | Wednesday, August 7th – Sunday, August 11th

The Oceanside International Film Festival, held every August, is an opportunity for independent filmmakers to have their work screened along the country’s North Coast region. It’s also an event where attendees can view local and international films at a place in SoCal known for its rich history, beautiful beaches and unique artistic community. Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition | Saturday, August 10th 

Saturday just got a whole lot cuter! The Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition is taking place on August 10th, starting at 8:00 a.m., and it is the paw-fect family friendly event! A $20 donation entry is suggested and includes a raffle ticket, live music, adorable dogs, beer and more. And as if you needed another reason to go other than pups on surfboards, this event will benefit the San Diego Humane Society. With more than 60 precious pups expected to participate, registration is limited and will close on August 4th with no late registration. Hillcrest Cityfest Street Fair | Sunday, August 11th

Taking place in the heart of Hillcrest, the Hillcrest Cityfest is a celebration of culture, music, arts and crafts. The 36th annual celebration of community spirit, which begins at 11:00 a.m., features live bands, electric dance music, DJ’s and food that attracts over 150,000+ visitors from San Diego and Southern California. Stay hydrated at the event’s massive cocktail bar and Miller-Coors Beer Garden, featuring Hop Valley Brewing Co’s Reveal Pale Ale. The Cityfest is free to attend, so come on out for a fun-filled Sunday!

 

San Diego’s Dog Days of Summer | Sunday, August 11th 

Cardiff Dog Days of Summer is San Diego County’s largest dog-centered event and will be held at the Encinitas Community Park – 425 Santa Fe Drive, 92024 – on Sunday, August 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The FREE all-day event will bring in over 10,000 attendees from across the city and features a special “Rescue Row” event, where all proceeds will be donated to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The City of Encinitas “Pet Health Expo” will also be on-site and will be providing services such as micro-chipping, licensing, vaccinations and more. Human guests can sip refreshing brews from The Lost Abbey and JuneShine at the Libation Lounge, and 50% of the proceeds from drink sales will also benefit the Humane Society.

 

San Diego West Coast Multicultural Carnival and Festival | Saturday, August 17th

On Saturday, August 17th, San Diego Caribbean Association, Inc. brings you the event on the year when they host the 3rd Annual San Diego West Coast Multicultural Carnival & Festival at SDCCU Stadium. Gates are open from Noon to 10:00 p.m. and stages will be jam-packed with vibrant performers. Guests can also enjoy delicious, authentic foods by vendors from various cultures all around the world. America’s Finest City Half Marathon and 5k | Sunday, August 18th

America’s Finest City Half Marathon and 5k, held on Sunday August 18th, starts at the Cabrillo National Monument atop the tip of Point Loma, along the San Diego Bay, Harbor Island, through downtown San Diego to a rousing finish in historic Balboa Park. Whether you’ve signed up to race or are cheering on friends and family, you can’t beat the views from the most scenic half-marathon in Southern California. Post-race activities include live music, refreshments and a beer garden for participants 21 + with a valid ID.

 

Bocce Bash- A SDCCU Holiday Bowl Event |Saturday, August 24th

As a fundraiser for the non-profit SDCCU Holiday Bowl, the Sun Diego Charter Bocce Bash features round-robin Bocce Tournament play beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th.
